ABC Fail Attempt 1, Austin Kleon, Everything's a Remix

9th February 2017

Ah, you win some you loose some. Yesterday we officially failed to raise the money needed for our Kickstarter Project: The ABC Tour.

In all honesty, I was a little disheartened by the fact that we couldn’t raise the full amount as I think, even still, that this is a great project and a really good idea. We have both learnt a lot about the project from trying it as a Kickstarter, such as, don't do a fund raising project in January after everyone’s tax bill, and the project would work better if one could give money after the project had already started. Maybe next time we would use Patreon or something like that. But right now, it’s time to put the project to one side for a week or so to let the dust settle, and then I’m going to come back to it with a fresh mind and figure out a way to make it happen. I haven’t given up on this one yet!

On a side note, I rewatched “Everything’s A Remix”  the other day. It is a fantastic short film on Youtube about how everything in the creative industry is a remix of other things. If you are in the arts, this is a must watch in my opinion:

Talking of which, if you are in the creative industry, I also recommend following Austin Kleon’s blog. Every week he sends a list of 10 interesting things such as music, books, or articles. I can also highly recommend buying both of his books which are available on his website.

"Juggler, standup comedian, and with a Faustian earned ability to defy the laws of gravity (unsubstantiated, but seriously... how else?), Jon Udry brings a stage show to make any circus ringmaster weep into his lion's mouth. Honestly, the man is like a mix of Bez and Magneto - big-fish-little-fishing his way around the impossible and back again.
