ABCD

9th August 2017

The ABC Tour is off to a flying start. The first stop was Bristol aquarium. I have to be honest, I did feel like King of the Blags by getting to perform here. It just so happened that the stars aligned; the aquarium staff were having a staff do and they needed some entertainment. I was joined by my good friend Sam Veale who was helping out with filming and setting up the sound.

We arrived to the aquarium early so we could scope the place out and find a good area to do the show. It wasn't long before we decided that this would make the perfect backdrop for the stage.

The show went down a treat. It was a surprise for the staff and they seemed to thoroughly enjoy the show. I even got this lovely testimonial from Hannah Worrall, the Marketing Manager the aquarium:

“Thank you so much to Jon for giving such a sterling performance for our staff night! Everyone commented on how impressed they were, from your incredible tricks to your hilariously witty comments it really was a brilliant evening. Jon was an absolute pleasure to work with, self sufficient and with perfect time keeping which was really appreciated as we had such a tight window of time to host the show.

I would definitely like to recommend any local businesses to support Jon with his ABC tour – its such a fun idea and we are so pleased to have been involved!

Wishing Jon the best of luck with the rest of his tour!”

Huge thanks to Hannah, David and the rest of the team for being supportive on the first show of the our. Video footage coming soon.

The next day Sam and I headed to the the bakery to perform show B. The Bristol Loaf is a stunning bakery and coffee shop on Church Road in Bristol. I cannot recommend it enough.

The reason it says “Bakewy” is because I have a limited number of R’s in the pack that came with the light box. But Shhhhh, I don’t think anybody noticed!

I was a little anxious about this show for a few reasons:

  1. There was very little space to perform in.
  2. I was surrounded by hanging lights and glass. Too many breakables.
  3. I was down to perform for an hour.
  4. It was the first show of the tour that was open to the public, so I had no idea how many, if any, people would turn up.
  5. I really like this coffee shop. If the show went bad, I’d feel like I couldn't show my face in there again. A lot was at stake.

It turns out I didn't really have anything to worry about. There was a good turn out of approximately 20 people, which in a small space felt like a lot! Everything pretty much went to plan. Video going soon.

Another huge thanks to Gary and Alex for letting me perform in their delightful bakery and for being so accommodating and helpful!

These two shows would not have been possible without my buddy Sam Veale. Sam you are a true gent, Thank-you.

Next will be C for Castle. This will be at Usk Castle in Wales. Check out the details below:

And then after that, I will heading back to Bristol for D is for Door Shop. That’s right, I will be performing in Bristol’s very own Door World. Details below:

I almost have E confirmed. If all goes to plan, E will take me all the way down to Cornwall. It’s going to be a good one, and no, it’s not the Eden Project. Details coming soon!

Testimonials

"Jon did a 45min set for us for our wedding in February 2017 and he was AMAZING!!!! Had our guests in fits of laughter and really was fantastic if you are looking for something to lift the energy after a wedding meal, but not do the predictable magician or live band.
