This week I drove 2.5 hours to do a 45 minute show at Kiln Park in Tenby, to then drive 2.5 hours home. In theory, except for the show, this doesn't sound like a good evening at all. A Wednesday evening in March at a holiday park, in all honesty, seems like it would be quite bleak. The show room was approximately 20% full. Oh, and outside, it was raining a lot. Audiences members, in their dozens, sheltering from the rain, on their holiday. The situation was destined to be a failure. HOWEVER, it went surprisingly well!
Blog - March 2017
A student on the BTEC at Circomedia contacted me the other day asking if I would answering 10 questions for an interview. I thought I'd release them and my answers as this weeks blog post. Yes I know, it's a bit of a cop out, but hey, it's my blog post, my rules.
1. How long have you been juggling and how did you get into it?
18 years ago, when I was 10 years old, I was a member of the Cornish Magical Society (hold yourself back ladies, I’m already taken). Once a week my parents would taken my along to the club where I would meet with hobbiest and professional magicians, and I’d get the chance to talk shop. I was by far the youngest in the group and totally in awe of these wizards.
A few weeks ago, I saw a Facebook post from a photography student saying that she is looking for performers to do a photoshoot in their own homes. My girlfriend Pippa needed some new photos, we don’t have any photos of us together in performing “get-up”, and the idea of a photoshoot where we didn’t even have to leave the house seemed very appealing indeed.
This week I have been teaching the intensive juggling week at Circomedia to the first years; 10 students, 1 week, many hours, enthusiasm overflow from the students, and my nonsensical notepad. I will try and upload the video soon, but I need to get permission from all of the students first. But in a nutshell, they killed it. They were all super attentive despite their juggling levels being very different and some of the classes being rather intense.
